The world's deepest trench-  Mariana Trench

You must have seen ditches, after finding them you must have walked carefully so that you don't slip into the ditch. How deep a ditch have you seen? 6 meters, 10 meters, 100 meters or 1000 meters?

Have you heard the name of any such gorge which is so deep that even Mount Everest can be completely contained in it? Are you shocked to hear this? Yes, but there is one such trench, its name is Mariana Trench. Mount Everest is 8848 meters above sea level, while the Mariana Trench is 10916 meters deep above sea level. This means that the Mariana Trench is 2068 meters higher than sea level. The Marina Trench is located in the western Pacific Ocean. It is located about 200 kilometers east of the Mariana Deep Group. Its depth is so great that even sunlight cannot reach here. There is a blanket of dense darkness here and the temperature here is less than 0 degree Celsius. The most terrifying of all is the water pressure, which can shatter our bones in an instant.

Mariana Trench

It is said that the Mariana Trench was formed by the collision of two tectonic plates – Pacific and Mariana. In this, one plate got pressed under the other, due to which the old and dense crust sank into the mantle below. Oceanographer Jack Pica and Lieutenant Don Walsh stepped into this unknown place for the first time in 1960. After a journey of 5 hours we finally reached the end point. He spent 20 minutes there. Due to too much darkness and dust they could not get much information about there.

Next 50 years later, no one dared to visit the Mariana Trench until 2012, when James Cameron, a Hollywood filmmaker and science fiction lover, dived solo into the Challenger Deep in a submarine designed by himself. Cameron spent three hours there, and he also filmed and took several photographs of the Mariana Trench. However, the extreme pressures adversely affected their equipment. The batteries were exhausted, the sonar stopped, and some of his ship's instruments malfunctioned, making it difficult to steer. But he had come out of that situation.

Till now only three people have been able to go into this ditch. Scientists believe that many secrets are hidden in the trenches and by uncovering these secrets, many products like medicines, food items, energy sources can be found, along with this, preparations can also be made to avoid earthquakes and tsunamis. The shape of the Mariana Trench is like a crescent moon in appearance. Many researches are being done on this deep abyss.
